The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon takes a huge leap forward this year as it leaves Prospect Park for the very first time in its eight year history, adds a new half marathon option, and moves a month earlier to an idyllic October date.
This year's race starts on Eastern Parkway near the Brooklyn Museum and takes you on a 10 mile tour of Brooklyn before heading into Prospect Park. The race will showcase Brooklyn neighborhoods including Prospect Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Crown Heights, Windsor Terrace, and Kensington. Half marathoners will then run almost a full loop of Prospect Park, while marathoners will complete a total of nearly five loops of the park.
1,500 lucky marathoners will be joined by as many as 11,000 half marathoners in a transformative year for the race. Registration is now open!
The USATF Certified courses will be electronically timed using the MYLAPS Bibtag system. There will be timing (split) points and clocks throughout the course.
H20, Gatorade, and restrooms will be available approximately every 1.5 miles, and medical support will be available throughout the course.
Participants in the the Half must finish in 4:30 or less and maintain a pace of 20 minutes per mile.
Participants in the the Marathon must finish in 7:00 or less and maintain a pace of 16 minutes per mile.

You like your bling and you want everyone to know how hardcore you are? If so, then signup for either the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon or the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon and the NYCRUNS Big Apple Half Marathon and we suspect you'll have something to show off not long after you have completed both races, though it will be a bit bigger for Brooklyn Marathoners. Everyone's a winner, but there's a secondary competitive aspect to this as well, that we have to keep under wraps until after Brooklyn. Just trust us.
The NYCRUNS InterClub Challenge returns with a unique competition incorporating three races across two events - the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon, the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon, & The NYCRUNS Big Apple Half Marathon. Details here.
