We’re so excited to be back in Prospect Park for the NYCRUNS Cocoa Classic Half Marathon & 5K on Saturday, December 2nd. Below is the least you need to know, but you can always refer to the race page for more details.
How Do I Get To Prospect Park?
The 2/3 to Grand Army Plaza are the closest subways to the Start. Please note, Flatbush Av-bound 2 and New Lots Av-bound 3 trains will not be stopping at Grand Army Plaza.
If you need to pick up a bib, check a bag or want to pick up your shirt before the race, you’ll need to head to the Festival area in the Nethermead starting at 7:00 AM. The closest subway is the F/G to 15th St-Prospect Park or the Q to Prospect Park.
Where is the Start?
The Start is located on East Drive, a ~15 min. walk from the Festival Area. There are restrooms near the Start.
When Does the Race Start?
Both the Half Marathon and the 5K start at 9AM. No late starts will be allowed and the start line will close 10 minutes after the race begins.
What Does the Course Look Like?
The Half Marathon course is just under 4 full loops of the park and a final sprint down Center Drive. The 5K course subtracts three of those loops. Please note there will be two separate finishes with the 5K finishing about 300’ before the Half. The 5K Finish will be broken down ~65 minutes after the race starts to avoid confusion. Check out the course map below.
Where are the Toilets?
Portable toilets are located at the Festival Area and near the Start.
Where/When Can I Pick Up My Bib?
Bib pick up is located in the Festival Area only starting at 7:00 AM.
Can I Switch Distances?
Yes, but you must get a new bib. Please stop by the Race Command tent in the Festival Area before 8:30AM to change your registration and get a new bib assigned to you. Participants who run with a bib for an improper distance will not be scored, eligible for awards, or appear in race results.
Where/When Can I Pick Up My Shirt?
Shirts will be distributed before and after the race in the Festival Area. To reduce waste, we try not to over-order, so shirts are not guaranteed. If you’ve got your heart set on a size, you should pick up your shirt before the race. You can check it in Bag Check if you don’t wish to wear it right away.
Where Can I Get My Post-Race Eats?
We’ll have hot cocoa, bagels and apples available in the Festival Area after the race.
