The Least You Need to Know on Race Day!

Here’s the least you need to know for the NYCRUNS Firecracker 10K at Governors Island on Saturday, June 29:

– Catch the Ferry (in Manhattan) to Governors Island between 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM

Take the Governors Island Ferry from the Ferry Terminal in Manhattan at the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street. The closest subway stops to the Ferry Terminal are Bowling Green (4/5), Whitehall Street (R), Broad Street (J), or South Ferry (1).

– The Race starts at 9:00 AM

The start line will close 10 minutes after the race begins. Please be on time. Late starts will not be allowed.

– Check out the Course Map

Get familiar with the two-loop course (including elevations), the hydration stations, and Race HQ (where you’ll find registration, bag check, and the restrooms).

– Pick up your Bib at the Festival Area

If you did not have your bib mailed to you, you must pick it up at Race HQ beginning at 7:30 AM on race morning. Keep this email handy since you will need to show the QR code (it’s also on your NYCRUNS dashboard under upcoming races.)

– Pick up your Race Shirt

Your NYCRUNS Firecracker 10K tech shirt can be picked up only on race day at Race HQ near the start/finish, either before you start or after you finish the race.

– Check your items if you want

Bag check is located at Race HQ near the start/finish. For security reasons, we need you to put all your items in a clear plastic bag that we provide. We can’t check backpacks or other non-clear plastic bags.

– Post-race cool down

Stick around after the race and cool off with a Fla-Vor-Ice pop!

Hydrate, Fuel Up, and Keep Covered

With the weather heating up, please be sure to stay hydrated the day before the race and through race morning. Make sure you eat something in the morning as well (something salty helps, and so does peanut butter, or a banana).  It’s a good idea to keep the sun off your head (hat) and the rest of your body (sunscreen). Ok that’s enough parental advice.
