Join us as we celebrate our 15-year run of great races and fun vibes and throw it back to 2011. It was a year when we first met Siri on our iPhone, saw England’s future King William marry his new Princess Kate, and NYCRUNS introduced a new approach to running events -- serious races that don’t take themselves too seriously. A perfect formula for good times on and off the course!
On November 20, 2011, we introduced the first-ever Brooklyn Marathon, which became the Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon, and is now the Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon (did you get all that)!
To honor the 262 runners who looped around Prospect Park in the first Brooklyn Marathon, we’ll be running it again (and we’re throwing in a half for good measure). Join us for the 2025 NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon and celebrate 15 years of NYCRUNNING!
The half marathon course starts on East Drive and makes just under four full loops of the park before finishing with a left turn off East Drive on to Center Drive for a final push to the finish.
The marathon course starts on Center Drive, makes two lower loops of the park, then six full loops, before finishing with a left turn off East Drive on to Center Drive for a final push to the finish.
Water, electrolyte fluids, restrooms, and medical support will be available throughout both courses.
All NYCRUNS courses are USATF certified.
NYCRUNS uses a pace-based corral system. Your start corral will be indicated by the letter printed on your bib, AA-F. You should be in your start corral no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of your race. Corrals are based on the pace indicated in the Profile section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard. You can update your pace at any time.
Due to the fact that the marathon and half marathon are multi-loop courses, we do not advise handcycle or wheelchair athlete participants to register for this race. If you're looking for a half marathon, we’d suggest registering for the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon. All of our 5K races in Prospect Park, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, and Central Park are great options to participate in as well.
Bag Check (opens at 6:00 AM) - If you plan on checking your gear, you must use one single clear bag. If your bag isn't clear, NYCRUNS will provide you with a clear bag (18" x 24") when you check your gear. You may not put another full bag/backpack/briefcase filled with gear inside the clear bag that NYCRUNS provides. All items must fit inside one clear bag. NYCRUNS reserves the right to search the contents in your bag at any time.
Restrooms (open at 6:00 AM) - Available in the Festival Area and at all water stations throughout the course.
Hydration - Water and electrolyte fluids will be available on the course along with cans of smartwater at the finish.
Post Race Refreshments - Further hydration, bagels (with a schmear, of course), and fresh fruit will be available after you finish.
Swag (distribution begins at 6:00 AM) - The giveaway for this race will be a FINISHER'S MEDAL (at the finish) and a RACE SHIRT and of course a great FINISH LINE SURPRISE! Shirts will be available for pick up on race day only. In order to cut down on waste, we try not to over order and shirt sizes are not guaranteed. If you have your heart set on a size, we recommend picking up your shirt before the race.
Photos - Free finish line photos will be available within a week of the race. You will receive an email from MarathonFoto several days after the race to claim your photos. You can also purchase a full photo package at check out or after the race.
You can pick up your bib in the Festival Area on race day beginning at 6:00 AM. Bibs are only available for pick up on race morning. Bib Pick-up closes at 7:30 AM.
You’ll need to show your unique QR code to pick up your bib (and shirt). Your QR code for this race will be emailed to you and is also located on your NYCRUNS Dashboard under Upcoming Races. The QR code can be added to your Apple Wallet. If a photo of your QR code works best, that’s fine too. You get the idea, when you pick up your bib (and shirt), have your QR code ready!
If you're a NYCRUNS Member, your bib will be mailed to you at no additional cost if you register more than 30 days before the race. You can become an NYCRUNS member at checkout and receive this free bib mailing benefit (as well as discounted races & anytime withdrawls).
If you're not an NYCRUNS Member, you can still have your bib mailed to you by adding this service at checkout for an additional $25. Bibs can only be mailed to runners who register 30 days or more before the date of the event and can only be sent to a domestic mailing address (we cannot mail to an international address).
Please note - your race shirt will not be sent with your bib. You will need to pick up your shirt on race day.
Results will be emailed and the full results will be posted on our Results Page after the race. If you do not see your result online or receive an email with your finish time, please fill out this form.
For both races, awards will be available to the top three male, female and non-binary runners overall (by gun time).
Age group awards will be made available to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers in each of the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 and over.
Additional information about awards can be found in our help section here.

Race Credit (combined with the member discount) may be used to pay for up to 50% or $40 (whichever is greater) off the original race entry price.

Mass transit is always the best way to get to NYCRUNS events. Check MTA Trip Planner for up-to-date mass transit information.
To get to the Festival Area and the Marathon Start on Center Drive, take the B or Q train to Prospect Park or the F or G train to 15th St-Prospect Park. If you're taking the bus, ride the B68 to Prospect Park Southwest/11th Avenue or the B16 to Ocean Ave/Lincoln Road. Citi Bike stations are located at Prospect Park Southwest/16th Street and Lincoln Road/Ocean Avenue. If you're getting a ride, use 101 Prospect Park Southwest as your target destination.
The Half Marathon Start is on East Drive, which is a 15-20 minute walk from the Festival Area. If you don't need to pick up your bib and/or check a bag, you can also take the 2 or 3 train to Grand Army Plaza which is just a short walk away from the half marathon start.
