Yo! Prices Are Rising Soon For Brooklyn's Best Half Marathon Experience
View All Races

Here’s the least you need to know for the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Ice Cream Social Half Marathon on Saturday, August 22, in Prospect Park.

Your Personal QR Code

Located at the top of this email and in the Upcoming Races section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard, your personal QR code is what you’ll use on race day to pick up your bib and participant shirt. Add it to your Apple Wallet or take a screenshot so it’s accessible on race morning.

Getting to the Race

Mass transit is usually the best way to get to the race. Check MTA.info to find the subway or bus that works best for you and for all the latest service updates. Parking is limited around the park, but if you’re getting a ride to the race, use 101 Prospect Park Southwest as the destination address to be dropped off at and enter the park at 16th St. Citi Bike stations are located at various entry points around the park.

The Festival Area Opens at 5:00 AM

The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead off Center Drive. It’s the hub of race activity. This is where you’ll pick up your bib and participant shirt, check a bag, and get any questions answered.

First Things First, Get Your Bib

If you haven’t received your bib in the mail, you’ll pick it up at the Bib Pick-Up Tent in the Festival Area, which closes at 6:30 AM. It’s best to arrive by 6:00 AM so you’ll have enough time to get everything you need before walking to the Start Corrals. When picking up your bib, have your personal QR code ready. If you’re also picking up a bib for other runners, make sure you have a screen shot of their QR code(s) too. For safety and security reasons and per NYCRUNS policy, only you can run with the bib that’s assigned to you.

Get Your Shirt

Pick up your official participant shirt before or after the race in the Festival Area. Just show your personal QR code.

Checking a Bag?

If you need to drop gear off until after the race, head over to the Bag Check zone in the Festival Area. For security reasons, all items must be in a clear bag. We can provide an 18” x 24” clear bag if you don’t have one.

Be in Your Start Corral by 6:45 AM

The Start Corrals are located on Well House Drive, just off West Drive, about a ten-minute walk from the Festival Area. Follow the signs and staff directions along the path from the Festival Area to the corrals, which will be lined up by letter (AA – F). Your corral assignment will be noted on your bib and is determined by the pace you selected in the Profile section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard. Corral entrances are located at the back of each lettered corral. Bathrooms will be located in the corral area. If you’re not sure where to enter, just ask a nearby corral event staff member where to go.

The Course

Check out the USATF-certified half marathon course which is comprised of just under four (4) full loops of the park. Fluid stations with water and Gatorade, followed by bathrooms, will be located at various points along the park loop.

When You Finish….Ice Cream (and more)

We’ll be there after the race with your well-earned finisher medal and refueling options including a bottle of Essentia water, Gatorade, an apple, and Brooklyn’s best bagel (with a schmear, of course). You’ll then head to the Festival Area for your choice of vanilla or chocolate Häagen-Dazs ice cream or a non-dairy rainbow flavored Marinos Italian Ice.

Spectators

We love seeing your friends and family cheering you on at the Finish. Please remind your supporters that we need to keep the emergency lane near the Finish Area clear and to refrain from using confetti cannons to celebrate, as they’re extremely difficult to clean up.

Photos

Following the race, you’ll receive an email with a link to your race photo gallery. If you did not pre-purchase a discounted photo package at checkout, you can still do so up to the day before the race by going to the Upcoming Races section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard and modifying your registration. For those who do not purchase a photo package, every NYCRUNS event includes a free photo which you can download after the race.

Track Your Run & Check Your Results

Real-time runner tracking and an interactive course map is available with the NYCRUNS Events App. Download the app now at the Apple App Store and Google Play. You’ll receive an email after the race once the preliminary results are posted on NYCRUNS.com.
