Here’s the least you need to know for the NYCRUNS Prospect Park 5K Benefiting CAMBA this Sunday, April 12:
Your Miles Matter!
Your run supports Brooklyn-based nonprofit CAMBA, one of NYC’s largest and most trusted community-based organizations helping over 80,000 individuals and familes a year. CAMBA’s work helps feed the hungry, prevent homelessness, build more affordable and supportive housing, and through their college access programs, give low-income youth a solid foundation for their future.
Getting to the Race
Mass transit is usually the best way to get to the race. Check MTA.info to find the subway or bus that works best for you and for all the latest service updates. Please note that the F train will not be running on its regularly scheduled route on race day so please plan accordingly. Parking is limited around the park, but if you’re getting a ride to the race, use 101 Prospect Park Southwest as the destination address to be dropped off at and enter the park at 16th St. Citi Bike stations are located at various entry points around the park. Please watch out for cyclists and official NYC Parks vehicles as you enter the park along East and West Drives.
The Festival Area Opens at 7:00 AM
The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead off Center Drive. It’s the hub of race activity. This is where you’ll pick up your bib and race shirt, check a bag, use the bathrooms, and get any questions answered. The Start Corrals are a short walk away on Well House Drive.
Pick Up Your Race Bib First
If you haven’t received your bib in the mail, you’ll pick it up at the Bib Pick-Up Tent in the Festival Area. Bib pick up closes at 8:30 AM, so please arrive no later than 8:00 AM to give yourself enough time. It’s a 5-minute walk to the Start Corrals from the Festival Area.
Get Your Swag
Pick up your official race shirt in the Festival Area after picking up your bib. Just show your QR code again. You can pick it up after the race too. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed.
Check a Bag
If you’ve got gear to check, head over to Bag Check and drop your things off. For security reasons, all items must be in a clear bag. NYCRUNS can provide an 18” x 24” clear bag if you don’t have one.
Be in Your Start Corral by 8:45 AM
The Start Corrals are located on Well House Drive, just off West Drive. Corrals are lined up by letter (AA – F). Your corral assignment will be noted on your bib and is determined by the pace you selected in the Profile section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard.
The Course
Check out the USATF-certified 5K course which makes just under one loop of the park before turning left up Center Drive to the Finish.
The Finish
We’ll be there at the Finish Line Area with your super cool Prospect Park loop inspired medal and refueling options including water, Gatorade, Brooklyn’s best bagel, and a tasty NY apple.
Spectators
We love seeing your friends and family cheering you on at the Finish Line, but please remind your supporters that we need to keep the emergency lane near the Finish Area clear and to refrain from using confetti cannons to celebrate your race, which are extremely difficult to clean up.
Photos
You’ll receive one complimentary photo and the option to purchase additional photos from MarathonFoto. You can purchase all your race day photos at a discounted rate prior to the race by going to the Upcoming Races section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard and adding that option.
Track Your Run
Real-time runner tracking and an interactive course map is available on the NYCRUNS Events App. Download the app now at the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Check Your Results
Soon after the race you’ll receive an email when the preliminary results are posted. If you’re an overall or group award winner and/or if you qualified for prize money and/or the NYCRUNS Local Elite Athlete Program, you’ll receive an email within two weeks, once the results are official.
