Here’s the least you need to know for the NYCRUNS Lousy T-Shirt Race Benefiting Prospect Park Alliance, next Tuesday evening, June 16.

We Love Prospect Park!

As a Brooklyn-based organization, Prospect Park is our home field, so to speak. NYCRUNS is donating a portion of the proceeds from this event to Prospect Park Alliance, the non-profit working in partnership with the City of New York ensuring that “Brooklyn’s Backyard” remains green and vibrant.

Getting to the Race

Mass transit is usually the best way to get to the race. Check MTA.info to find the subway or bus that works best for you and for all the latest service updates.

  • Parking is limited around the park, but if you’re getting a ride to the race, use 101 Prospect Park Southwest as the destination address to be dropped off at and enter the park at 16th St.
  • Citi Bike stations are located at various entry points around the park. Please watch out for cyclists and official NYC Parks vehicles as you enter the park along East and West Drives.

The Festival Area Opens at 5:00 PM

The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead off Center Drive. It’s the hub of race activity. This is where you’ll pick up your bib and participant shirt, check a bag, use the bathrooms, and get any questions answered.

Pick Up Your Race Bib First

If you haven’t received your bib in the mail, you’ll pick it up at the Bib Pick-Up Tent in the Festival Area, which closes at 6:30 PM. It’s best to arrive by 6:00 PM to give yourself enough time to get everything you need and make the 5-10-minute walk to the Start Corrals on Well House Drive.

  • When picking up your bib, have your personal QR code ready. It’s located in the Upcoming Races section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard. Add it to your Apple Wallet. Screen shots are fine too. If you’re also picking up a bib for other runners, make sure you have a screen shot of their QR code(s) too.
  • For safety and security reasons and per NYCRUNS policy, only you can run with the bib that’s assigned to you.

Get Your Shirt

Pick up your official participant shirt in the Festival Area after picking up your bib. Just show your QR code again. You can pick it up after the race too. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed.

Checking a Bag?

If you need to drop gear off until after the race, head over to the Bag Check Area. For security reasons, all items must be in a clear bag. NYCRUNS can provide an 18” x 24” clear bag if you don’t have one.

Be in Your Start Corral by 6:45 PM

The Start Corrals are located on Well House Drive, just off West Drive. Corrals are lined up by letter (AA – F). Your corral assignment will be noted on your bib and is determined by the pace you selected in the Profile section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard.

The Course

Check out the USATF-certified 5K course which will make just under one loop of the park before a left turn up Center Drive to the Finish. There will be a water station with bathrooms located just after Mile 2.

The Finish

We’ll be there at the Finish Area with refueling options including bottled Essentia water, Gatorade, a tasty apple, a refreshing ice pop, and a nice salty bag of pretzels.

Spectators

We love seeing your friends and family cheering you on at the Finish. Please remind your supporters that we need to keep the emergency lane near the Finish Area clear and to refrain from using confetti cannons to celebrate, as they’re extremely difficult to clean up.

Photos

You’ll receive an email a few days following the race with a link to your photo gallery where you can choose a photo to download for free. You can also search for your photos after the race on the MarathonFoto website.

Track Your Run

Real-time runner tracking and an interactive course map is available with the NYCRUNS Events App. Download the app now at the Apple App Store and Google Play.
