Here’s the least you need to know for the NYCRUNS Summer Loving 5K & 10K on Sunday, June 21 in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens:

Getting There

Mass transit is the best way to get to the race. Check MTA.info for the latest service updates. Take either the subway (7 line) or Long Island Railroad (LIRR). Both stop at the Mets-Willets Point Station. From there, it’s just a short walk to the Festival Area. Keep in mind that other events are taking place in the park too, so please follow our directional signage and instructions from event staff. Parking options are limited. If you’re getting a ride to the race, use 31 Meridian Rd., Corona, as a drop-off point.

The Festival Area Opens at 6:00 AM

The Festival Area is located next to the Fountain of the Planets. This is the hub of pre-race activity where you’ll pick up your bib (if it wasn’t mailed to you) and shirt, check a bag, use the bathroom, and get any questions answered.

Pick Up Your Race Bib First, Then Get Your Shirt

If you haven’t received your bib in the mail, you’ll pick it up at the Bib Pick-Up Tent in the Festival Area, which closes at 7:30 AM for the 5K and 8:15 AM for the 10K.

  • When picking up your bib, have your personal QR code ready. It’s located on your NYCRUNS Dashboard. Add it to your Apple Wallet. Screen shots are fine too. If you’re picking up a bib for other runners, make sure you have a screen shot of their QR code(s) too.
  • For safety and security reasons and per NYCRUNS policy, only you can run with the bib that’s assigned to you.
  • Pick up your official participant shirt after getting your bib using the same QR code. You can pick it up after the race too. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed.

Checking a Bag?

If you need to drop gear off until after the race, head over to the Bag Check Area. For security reasons, all items must be in a clear bag. NYCRUNS can provide an 18” x 24” clear bag if you don’t have one.

Be in Your Start Corral at Least 15 minutes Before Your Start

The Start Corrals are located a short walk from the Festival Area. For the 5K, please arrive in your corral no later than 7:45 AM. For the 10K, please arrive in your corral no later than 8:30 AM. Corrals are lined up by letter (AA – F). Your corral assignment will be noted on your bib and is determined by the pace you selected in the Profile section of your NYCRUNS Dashboard.

The Course

Both the 5K course and 10K course will take you on a picturesque tour around the park, passing by the iconic Unisphere and other landmarks before reaching the Finish Line at the Fountain of the Planets, next to the Festival Area. 5K runners will pass one water station between Mile 1 and Mile 2. 10K runners pass three (3) water stations; between Mile 1 and Mile 2, just after Mile 3, and between Mile 4 and Mile 5.

The Finish

We’ll be there at the Finish Area with refueling options including bottled Essentia water, Gatorade, a tasty apple, a refreshing ice pop, and a nice salty bag of pretzels.

Spectators

We love seeing your friends and family cheering you on at the Finish. Please remind your supporters to refrain from using confetti cannons to celebrate, as they’re extremely difficult to clean up.
