The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon took over Brooklyn streets today from Williamsburg to Prospect Park with 11,721 runners finishing the 13.1 mile course.

NYCRUNS, popular organizer of running events throughout New York City, produced the half marathon event which featured views of the Williamsburg, Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges.

The event began with the National Anthem, performed by Syndee Winters of Broadway’s “Hamilton” and Disney’s “The Lion King.”

At 6:55 a.m. the race was underway, with the Wheelchair and Handcycle participants leading the pack followed by the elite field at 7:00 a.m. The remaining field of runners continued to cross the start line in three waves over the next hour with pacers from the Prospect Park Track Club leading each corral.

The scenic course started on Manhattan Ave. in Williamsburg with a quick traverse through Greenpoint before winding down the East River waterfront and into DUMBO where runners crossed under the iconic three bridges. The course then headed down the grand concourses of Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue before passing through Grand Army Plaza, up and down Eastern Parkway and entering Prospect Park to finish their 13.1-mile run on Center Drive.

Despite the weather, spectators lined the course to show their support alongside live entertainment from several course bands, including Wula Drum, Brass Queens, Fogo Azul, Gamelan Dharma Swara, The L Train Brass Band and Street Mule, and a cheer zone in Albee Square sponsored by City Point.

The winner of the non-binary field was Jordan Caroompas from Brooklyn, NY with a time of 1:31:02. The winner of the women’s field was Sarah Pagano from San Diego, CA with a time of 1:12:58. The winner of the men’s field was Aaron Mora from Manhattan, NY with a time of 1:10:32.
