Lead Cyclist Volunteers will assist NYCRUNS staff as part of our team of bike marshals for the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon.

On race day, please check in with the Start Volunteer Manager at 5:30 AM to receive your walkie-talkie and safety vest and/or SWAG to be worn over your outer layer. Once checked in, you'll be assigned to one of the lead athlete positions to monitor during the race.

Lead cyclists are required to maintain an average cycling speed of 12 mph (equal to a 5 minute/mile running pace) and wear a helmet at all times. There will also be a required pre-race course ride with the Course Cyclist Manager on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Please make sure your bicycle is race ready prior to April 23, 2023.

You will receive $100 race credit within 5 days of your shift. Race credit expires on Dec. 31, 2023 and may be used to pay for up to 50% or $40 (whichever is greater) of any NYCRUNS-owned race registration.
