The Brooklyn Cyclones Take Your Base 5K and 1.5 Mile Walk
July 15, 2017Start time: 9:00AM
If you’re going to spend one day in Coney Island this summer, this should be it. We have more fun packed into this race entry than you will find anywhere else!
The home plate finish is just the beginning. Our post-race festivities include a party with BBQ and beer, a Brooklyn Cyclones game and a fun day on the Coney Island boardwalk. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome.
This 5K course is accurately measured and electronically-timed. There is also an untimed 1.5-Mile Walk.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the YMCA of Greater New York. When registering, members and friends of the Y should select their own “YMCA branch” to send support directly to children and families in their community. Join us at the event and help raise funds via Crowdrise to support the YMCA. Go to Crowdrise to sign up for fundraising, create a team when registering for the event or choose one of the existing teams. If you do not already have a Crowdrise account, one will be created for you automatically when you list a team.
Everything you give to the Annual Campaign of New York City’s YMCA gives children and families the chance to thrive. No one is ever turned away.
The race starts on Surf Avenue, continues onto the boardwalk and finishes at home plate in MCU Park. Registration, bag check, bathrooms, and the post-race party will take place on the main concourse of MCU Park.
Bag check and toilets will be provided. Clif Bar products, BBQ, beer, fresh fruit, and more will make up the usual great NYCRUNS post-race spread. The giveaway for this race will be a raglan baseball style shirt. All participants receive one free Cyclones ticket for a game on Friday 7/14, Sunday 7/16, or Saturday 8/5. Additional tickets—up to 8 per game—can be purchased for $10 each. All tickets are general admission.
Pre-race packet pickup will be outside of MCU Park on Friday, July 14 from 5 to 7 pm. On race day, there will be packet pickup near the start line, beginning at 7:30 am.
If registering on or before 6/23 you can choose to have your bib mailed to you for an additional fee of $15. You must choose this option when registering and the bib must be mailed to the address you enter at that time. Shirts will not be mailed; they will be available to pick up at the race. Shipping to domestic US addresses only.
See chart below. NYCRUNS members receive a 10% discount, race deferral rights, and other perks. Registration at packet pickup and at the race (if available) is cash or credit, no checks please. Register early to make things easier for us and cheaper for you!

Want to race this one for free? Volunteer at any of these upcoming events and rack up as much credit as you can. Or in lieu of credit for yourself, you can have us donate $25 per shift to a cause partner of your choice. What’s this all about, anyway? Learn more about the volunteer program here.
Take the D, F, N, or Q trains to Coney Island Stillwell Avenue. At the corner of Stillwell and Surf Avenues (where Nathan’s is located), turn right. Walk two blocks west along Surf Avenue to the ballpark.
