This exciting new event is designed for organizations large and small looking for a great team building opportunity and down with celebrating all things Brooklyn!
At Building Brooklyn, runners and walkers from a diverse group of local businesses — from corporations to neighborhood merchants — along with non-profits, government agencies, and freelancers; will complete a 5K in Prospect Park, where there'll also be music from an insane DJ, a wide selection of cuisine from Brooklyn’s best food trucks, and a group yoga session!
Anyone can participate - neither you nor your organization has to be from Brooklyn by the way!
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to participating non-profits.. Any non-profit whose work primarily benefits Brooklyn and NYC is automatically eligible to receive a donation as long as it registers at least 10 participants as part of it's group.

All participants sign up on this page, however if you are part of an organization putting together and paying for a team of 10 or more, you may choose to pay using either this form or via check or credit card offline.
You may register a team as large as 20 using the online form.
If you need to sign up a larger team, need to increase the number of participants on existing team, or prepayment is not ideal for you and you expect to have 10 or more participants - please email email@example.com. If you use this option, final payment will be required approximately two weeks before the event.
Once you have signed up your team, you will receive a special code within 24 hours - everyone else on your team may register with that code without cost once you distribute it.
When signing up your team, you will have two other big decisions to make.
Finally, members of your team are expected to be full time or part time employees of your company for the most part. However, if there is a key member of your team who doesn't fit that description you are welcome to include them.

Participating non-profits who purchase 10 or more entries will be eligible to receive a portion of the proceeds from the Building Brooklyn 5K. The portion will ultimately be based on the number of non-profits and the success of the event, but we hope to donate over $10,000 in the inaugural year. Purchased entries may be resold by non-profits or given away to staff and affiliates as they see fit.
The Building Brooklyn 5K is an important part of our overall NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon effort. Our goal with that event is to build a race with international acclaim and one of the largest running events in the country. A key component of that plan is to use the event as a vehicle to raise millions of dollars for non-profits that benefit Brooklyn.
The race will start and finish near the entrance to Wellhouse Drive not far from the LeFrak Center, Oriental Pavilion, and Smorgasburg.
Bag check and toilets will be provided. Water will be available on the course, and bagels, spreads, fresh fruit and more will make up the usual great NYCRUNS post race spread to greet you at the finish line. The giveaway for this race will be a tech t-shirt*. Free finish line photos and video will be available on your results page within a week of the race.
*Sizes are guaranteed. In order to cut down on waste, we try not to overorder. If we don’t have your size at the race, email email@example.com within two days of the race and we’ll ship your shirt to you a few weeks later. Make sure to include the race name, your name, size and shipping address in the body of the email. Shipping to domestic US addresses only.
Pre Event Pickup will be 12 PM- 7 PM on Monday 6/10 at a location TBD. Team Captains will be responsible for picking up (or delegating the responsibility) for their entire team,
Event day pickup will begin at 4PM at the festival area off of Wellhouse Drive - not far from the start and finish.

We apologize, but NYCRUNS race credit cannot be used for this event due to the way it is structured.
Results will be emailed (often during the race) and the full results will be posted on our results page after the race. Finish line photos and video will also be available on the results page several days after the event.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners overall in each race. Age group awards in the 5K will be awarded to the top three in each the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.
Additionally, special team awards are planned in the following categories - Non-Profit, Small Business, Corporate, Government, and Independent Contractor. We are still working out exactly how these will be compiled.

The closest subway is the B/Q/S to Prospect Park. The F Train to 15th St/Prospect Park and the 2/3 to Grand Army Plaza are also within a mile walk.

The standard no-refunds, no-deferrals, no-transfers policy applies, unless you are signed up for the NYCRUNS Membership Program. NYCRUNS members receive a 10% discount, race deferral rights, and other perks. Strollers or dogs are not allowed in NYCRUNS races and you may be disqualified if earbuds or headphones hinder your awareness.
