NYCRUNS Building Brooklyn 5K

Start Time: 7:00 PM
Prospect Park
Wellhouse Drive
Brooklyn, NY

This exciting event is a celebration of all things Brooklyn, as well as team-building, civic and athletic camaraderie. Building Brooklyn showcases teams of employees (runners and walkers) from the many types of diverse organizations that make up the Brooklyn community - small businesses, non-profits, government agencies, and even large corporations - though the event is way too Brooklyn to even consider using the words “corporate challenge.”

Along with the 5K run/walk, the event features music from a live DJ, a wide selection of cuisine from Brooklyn’s best food trucks, group yoga, and more.

Anyone can participate -  neither you nor your organization has to be from Brooklyn by the way!

A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to participating non-profits. See below for more information.

If you are interested in sponsorship; branding opportunities are available and a private hospitality area is one great perk for key partners. For more information on this opportunity, please email [email protected].

All participants sign up on this page, however if you are part of an organization putting together and paying for a team of 5 or more, please sign up your team on this page. Teams of 2-4 may sign up individually on this page.

When signing up your team, you will have two other big decisions to make.

  1. What to name it? We recommend the name of the organization be incorporated somehow.
  2. Type or category of organization. Are you a non-profit, small business, large business, municipal/government, or independent contractor?

Finally, members of your team are expected to be full time or part time employees of your company for the most part. However, if there is a key member of your team who doesn't fit that description you are welcome to include them.

That's pretty much all you need to know to register, but you can email [email protected] if you have any further questions.

Participating non-profits who purchase 10 or more entries will be eligible to receive a portion of the proceeds from the Building Brooklyn 5K. The portion will ultimately be based on the number of non-profits and the success of the event, but we hope to donate over $20,000 in 2020. Purchased entries may be resold by non-profits or given away to staff and affiliates as they see fit.

The Building Brooklyn 5K is an important part of our overall NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon effort. Our goal with that event is to build a race with international acclaim and one of the largest running events in the country. A key component of that plan is to use the event as a vehicle to raise millions of dollars for non-profits that benefit Brooklyn.

The race will start and finish near the entrance to Wellhouse Drive not far from the LeFrak Center, Oriental Pavilion, and Smorgasburg.

Bag check and toilets will be provided. If you plan on checking a bag, you must use the clear bag provided by NYCRUNS at Packet Pickup or Bag Check. Water will be available on the course, and snacks and fresh fruit and more will make up the usual great NYCRUNS post race spread to greet you at the finish line.  The giveaway for this race will be a tech t-shirt*.  Free finish line photos and video will be available on your results page within a week of the race.

* In order to cut down on waste, we try not to overorder and sizes are not guaranteed. We recommend you pick up as early as possible to ensure you get your size. Prior to the race size swaps will not be allowed. They will be allowed after the race starts.

There will be no pick-up prior to event day.

Event day pickup will begin at 4 PM at the festival area off of Wellhouse Drive - not far from the start and finish. Team Captains will be responsible for picking up (or delegating the responsibility) for their entire team. We recommend you pickup no later than 6 PM.
