NYCRUNS Prospect Park 5K Benefiting CAMBA

Prospect Park
Center Drive
Brooklyn, NY

Kick off Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon weekend with a fast 5K where anyone can win their race! The NYCRUNS Prospect Park 5K Benefiting CAMBA is a great way to experience our flagship event and includes an opportunity to cross the Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon finish line and earn a medal of your own!

This race benefits CAMBA, a nonprofit that provides services that connect people with opportunities to enhance their quality of life.

Feel like doing this one independently? You may also choose the virtual option.

Please be aware that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all aspects of this race are extremely subject to change. Please see the information below on COVID-19 precautions and restrictions.

CAMBA is one of the city’s largest and trusted community-based organizations helping over 65,000 people a year with over 160 programs at 80 sites. When the pandemic hit we pivoted to online programs and to meeting the increased demands of our community. This included meeting a 500% increase in the number of meals provided at our Beyond Hunger Food Pantry in Brooklyn in the early summer and now currently has is still seeing a 400% increase.

Your support helps us to feed the hungry, prevent homelessness, build more affordable and supportive housing, and help low-income youth believe a college education is in their future and work towards that goal. Please help us stabilize the tens of thousands of families who were dealt an unfair hand and have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Help us advance an inclusive New York City.

You'll run a little less than a loop for the 5K starting near the lake on the west side of Prospect Park and finishing on Center Drive.

Course Map Coming Soon

You can run or walk anywhere you want, including a treadmill.  You can track your miles any way you want and with any device you want. For this race, you must run your race and submit your result by April 30, 2022.

Once you've run, you'll submit your miles through  our new Run This One results system which is accessible to registered runners via their dashboard. You can automatically sync via MapMyRun and Garmin Connect, or you can add runs manually of course.

Most importantly, have fun.

COVID-19 has changed many things about our events. The following procedures are planned for this event. Prior to the race you will receive more information if changes or additions are necessary.

  • You may not attend the event if you have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 or tested positive in the fourteen (14) days prior to the event.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19 within the fourteen days following the event, you must email so that we may notify staff and participants as necessary.
  • If you are not vaccinated, you must wear a face covering throughout this event other than when running. When running, you may remove the covering only when you can maintain social distance and the covering must remain around your head in some fashion so it can easily be reapplied.
  • In order to manage crowding, spectators are discouraged at the race, particularly at the start and finish. NYCRUNS reserves the right to ask spectators to leave the race site.

Bag check will be provided. To reduce interaction with staff, we encourage you to avoid checking a bag. If you plan on checking a bag, you must use the single clear bag provided by NYCRUNS. You may not put another full bag/backpack/briefcase inside the clear bag. All items must fit inside the clear bag. NYCRUNS reserves the right to search your bag at any time.

Toilets will be provided and cleaned throughout the event.

While we encourage you to bring your own hydration, water will be available on the course and at the finish. Bagels, spreads, Dole ® Fruit Bowls ® in 100% Juice and more will make up the usual great NYCRUNS post race spread to replenish you at the finish line.

The giveaways for this race will be a tech shirt and medal*.  Finish line photos will be available within a week of the race.

* In order to cut down on waste, we try not to overorder and sizes are not guaranteed. We recommend you register as early as possible to ensure you get your size mailed to you.

Bib and Shirt Distribution will be available at the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Marathon & Half Marathon Expo. The exact location and hours are TBD.

Athletes will need to pick up their bib at the expo unless they select the virtual option. There is no charge for domestic shipping. International athletes running virtually will need to pay a $40 shipping charge.
