Abandoned cemeteries, mass graves, decommissioned military buildings, what better way to spend your Halloween? Governors Island has a long and secretive history as a military base in the New York Harbor. Don’t believe us? Come see for yourself! NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K and 10K includes not just your race-entry, but a round trip ferry ride, a snazzy tech t-shirt, and post-race eats. Ferries run all day long so you can explore the island after you’re race. Just don’t miss the last boat back, or we’ll be telling your story next year...
Please be aware that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all aspects of this race are extremely subject to change.
COVID-19 has changed many things about our events. Prior to the race you will receive details on exact procedures for this event. The following are some of the procedures you will likely have to follow:
A whirlwind tour of Governors with amazing views! The 5K is one loop and the 10K is two loops.
We will start the race in multiple socially distant waves, beginning as early as 7 AM and ending at noon. Your wave will be pre-determined and may not be changed. We cannot advise you of exact wave time until the week of the race. Please arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to your wave to avoid crowding on the race site.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 only registered runners may attend the event. Guests will not be permitted.
Bag check will be provided. To reduce interaction with staff, we encourage you to avoid checking a bag. If you plan on checking a bag, you must use the single clear bag provided by NYCRUNS. You may not put another full bag/backpack/briefcase inside the clear bag. All items must fit inside the clear bag. NYCRUNS reserves the right to search your bag at any time.
Toilets will be provided and cleaned throughout the event.
While we encourage you to bring your own hydration, water will be available on the course and at the finish. Due to COVID-19, we will forgo bagels, spreads and fresh fruit but we will have post-run snacks at the finish line.
The giveaway for this race will be a tech shirt*. Free finish line photos and video will be available on your results page within a week of the race.
* In order to cut down on waste, we try not to overorder and sizes are not guaranteed. We recommend you register as early as possible to ensure you get your size mailed to you.
Due to security restrictions, you must have your bib and any spectator bibs in advance of race day.
Pre-Race pickup will be Friday 10/30 from 12 PM-6 PM at a location TBD
