Marketing Manager

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a qualified marketing professional with experience in (or, at the very least a deep passion for) endurance sporting and events. This is a role with the potential for significant growth for the right, dedicated person. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, a positive, upbeat attitude, and a knack for problem-solving. As a fast-growing startup, we are looking for someone with a willingness to get their hands dirty and go the extra mile.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating, developing, and executing in-market strategy and campaigns to drive sales for race registrations
  • Finding and maintaining new users through targeted marketing efforts
  • Utilizing social media to increase brand awareness
  • Defining and executing strategies to maximize revenue through email communication and other means
  • Managing event-specific communications to retain users and strengthen brand reputation
  • Maintaining email and social media performance and finding ways to strengthen overall performance
  • Identifying emerging markets and implementing successful marketing strategies within them

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or the equivalent; some professional marketing experience a must. Professional endurance experience strongly desired.
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in marketing, sales, or product development
  • Knowledge of email marketing best practices, including targeted segmentation, effective calls-to-action, and brand-building messaging
  • Strong analytical skills and a love of all-things data
  • An ever-evolving grasp of the digital media landscape and social media, well beyond basic use of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. (including experience executing strategic, paid campaigns)
  • Creative, ideas-driven person with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be organized, able to handle multiple projects at once, and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to thrive in a past-faced, evolving environment and eagerness to collaborate across departments: We are a small and fast-growing start-up, and no job is too small or insignificant for any staff member.

Communications and Community Manager

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a qualified individual to assist with communications and community engagement. This is a public-facing role with the potential for significant growth for the right, dedicated person. The ideal candidate will have stellar written and verbal communication skills, expertise in facets of social media, a strong work ethic, a positive, upbeat attitude and a passion for the industry. A willingness to get your hands dirty and go the extra mile is always an asset in a growing business.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing relationships with partners such as running clubs and non-profits
  • Composing and distributing press releases
  • Supporting digital marketing efforts, including help creating copy for social media channels and maintaining accounts on event days
  • Managing customer service
  • Communicating with race participants prior to events as directed by NYCRUNS staff and their needs
  • Creating and developing company-wide customer service best practices (handbook, manual for staff, etc.)

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a related industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant area
  • Impeccable grammar and use of punctuation
  • Creative, innovative ideas-driven person
  • Excellent people skills and some sales experience helpful
  • Possess a calm, steady demeanor (this is, after all, a customer service role in many respects
  • Love of social media and an eye for quality content that engages the user
  • Team player who can also work independently
