We expect over 20,000 runners to participate in the event.

The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon Expo will take place at ZeroSpace in Gowanus on Friday, April 26 from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is where you’ll pick up your race bib and t-shirt, check a bag to be picked up at the Post Finish Festival area (if you choose to), shop for one-of-a-kind Brooklyn-themed running attire, meet our great partners, and engage with some great local businesses and causes.
Yes. You can have someone pick up your race bib and t-shirt for you at the Expo, if necessary. The person picking up must have a copy of your registration QR code as well as your photo ID.
You will receive your bib and t-shirt via USPS no earlier than April 8 and no later than April 22.
Event fees are non-refundable.
But the good news is NYCRUNS members can receive race credit if they can’t participate. If you are not an NYCRUNS member and you can’t participate you can become a member now and receive all the benefits of membership, including race credit.
If you wish to withdraw and are not an NYCRUNS member, simply sign up for an NYCRUNS membership and take advantage of one of the two “any reason” withdrawals that you receive with your membership.
Once you’ve signed up for an NYCRUNS membership (or if you’re already a member), you can follow these steps to withdraw from the 2024 NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon.
Race credit for the full amount of your registration will be automatically added to your NYCRUNS account. Race credit is usable towards any NYCRUNS-owned race (usually indicated by NYCRUNS in the title). Race credit may be used to pay for up to 50% or $40 (whichever is greater) for any race. Race credit must be used within 6 months but may be used for any race on sale at the time.
Please note that newly registered NYCRUNS members can withdraw up to April 27. Existing NYCRUNS members must withdraw no later than April 18.
Due to safety and security protocols, and per our rules of participation and competition, the sale and/or transfer of a race entry/bib is strictly prohibited and will result in the disqualification and/or banning from future events of any individuals involved.

The safety of our runners is always our main concern. An experienced team of medical personnel will be stationed throughout the course to handle all situations. We will have medical facilities at both the start and finish areas as well as designated medical tents and personnel located along the entire 13.1-mile course.
The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon will be using the event flag system to communicate any changes in event safety status. Check out the details here.
Yes. The phone number to call in case of emergency is (646) 290-5353. This number is also on your race bib.
Hydration stations will be located every 1 – 2 miles along the course providing water and Lemon Line Nunn Endurance. Bottled Smartwater will be available at the finish, along with a classic Brooklyn bagel with a schmear, and a juicy New York State apple.
Yes. Participants have access to gender neutral facilities on race day, including standard and ADA portable restrooms at the start area in McCarren Park, along the course, and in Prospect Park at the finish.
The NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon finish line will close at 12:30 PM (which is a 4:00 pace for runners starting in Wave 4). Runners who do not cross the finish line prior to 12:30 PM will not be recorded as official finishers and may not receive full on-course support from aid stations and traffic safety personnel or receive a finisher medal. Roadways outside of Prospect Park will re-open to traffic in a rolling fashion. A sweep vehicle will follow behind the last runners in the race and will provide transportation to the finish for participants who are unable to maintain the required pace. Runners who wish to continue running after the sweep vehicle passes them and the streets begin to open will be directed to the sidewalks.
Yes. The Prospect Park Track Club will be providing pacers for runners looking to run a pace of 1:30 to 3:00, in five (5) minute increments (1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, and so on). Just look for the pacer signs in your start wave identifying the pace time you’re looking to run.
Earpieces and headphones are permitted for use on the course; however, we recommend runners use those devices with care. Participants must be always alert to their surroundings and will need to hear important announcements made at the start, on the course, and at the finish.
Yes, you can run with the GPS watch device of your choosing.
All backpacks and over-the-shoulder hydration vests are strictly prohibited, and runners will not be able to enter the start area with them. Runners will be permitted to enter the start area and run with hydration/fuel belts and handheld water bottles of one (1) liter or less.
The 2024 NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon start line is located on the edge of McCarren Park on Nassau Avenue at the intersection of Lorimer Avenue & Manhattan Avenue. Runners must enter the McCarren Park start area from North 12th Street and Bedford Avenue. Check out a map of the start here.
We strongly recommend that you take public transit to the start at McCarren Park. Due to road closures, traffic will be heavy and street parking will be difficult. Take the L to Bedford Avenue or the G to Lorimer/Metropolitan. We do not recommend the G to Nassau Avenue as street closures and security barriers will make it difficult to walk from there to start. Arriving at the start from Nassau Street or Manhattan Avenue is discouraged as you will be directed to the runner entry point on the opposite side of McCarren Park at Bedford Avenue and North 12th Street.
We do not recommend driving to the start. If you are taking an UBER/Lyft/taxi to the race start or being dropped off by friends or family, please use Meeker Avenue between Frost Street & Graham Avenue as your target destination. Please be aware you will not be able to get any closer to the start in a private vehicle.
All runners will pass through security, including a metal detector, to enter the start corrals. No bags will be allowed through security. If you bring additional layers of clothing, you must be wearing them. You will need to show your race bib to gain entry. Weapons of any kind, flammable liquids, fireworks, toxic chemicals, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, blankets, or any other item that security deems dangerous are strictly prohibited and will be confiscated.
Yes. There will be clothing collection bins along the corrals in the start area. Please place any clothing you will not be running in within those collection bins. All clothing collected will be donated to charity.
No. Bag check will not be available at the start. If you are checking a bag, you must do so prior to the race at the Expo. Bags checked at the Expo will be available at the Post Finish Festival.
No. Runners will not be able to pick up their bib and t-shirt on race morning, and you may not run without a bib. Bibs and t-shirts will be distributed at the Expo or in the mail for runners who selected the VIP package.
Runners arrive at different times depending on which wave they will start in. There will be four (4) waves.
Wave 1 starts at 6:55 AM with the wheelchair and handcycle participants, followed at 7:00 AM by the rest of the Wave 1 field. Runners in Wave 1 must arrive and pass through security between 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM.

Wave 3 starts at 8:00 AM. Runners in Wave 3 must arrive and pass through security between 7:00 AM – 7:45 AM
Wave 4 starts at 8:30 AM. Runners in Wave 4 must arrive and pass through security between 7:30 AM – 8:15 AM.
*Please do not show up any earlier than instructed above. You will not be able to pass through security and take advantage of pre start amenities beforehand.
You will be assigned a start wave and corral when you receive your race bib either at the NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon Expo on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27, or if you are a VIP package runner, your bib will arrive to your home via USPS no earlier than April 8 and no later than April 22.
Both your wave and corral assignment are based on the pace you submitted upon registering. Your submitted pace is visible in your registration history on your NYCRUNS Dashboard.
Your start wave is the large group of runners you will enter and start with. Waves are numbered (1, 2, 3, 4). Your corral is the smaller sections of the wave that you’ll be waiting in before the start. Corrals are lettered (A, B, C, D, E, F).
Bibs cannot be exchanged, nor can your wave or corral be reassigned.
Do not arrive for a wave start that’s earlier than the wave start designated on your bib. You will not be able to pass through security until the arrival time window for your wave. You cannot change to an earlier wave.
Yes. Runners will be able to gain entry to start waves that are later than what was assigned. (i.e., a Wave 2 runner can start with Wave 3 or Wave 4).

Yes. Runners can retrieve items at the Post Finish festival area by checking a bag at the 2024 NYCRUNS Brooklyn Half Marathon Expo on Friday, April 26 or Saturday, April 27. While at the Expo, you will receive a clear plastic bag for your items to be checked. You cannot check weapons of any kind, flammable liquids, fireworks, toxic chemicals, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, or any other items that are deemed dangerous. Baggage trucks will transport your checked back to the Finish on race day.
Yes. There is a lactation tent adjacent to the medical tent at the Post Finish Area.
Due to security and space constraints, finish line access is restricted to those holding finish line passes only. There will be no direct access to the finish line. Finish line passes may be purchased here.
We suggest athletes reunite with family and friends outside of Prospect Park. However, there will be a family reunion area adjacent to the post-race festival in the Nethermead (a short distance from the finish). For those coming to the Nethermead, please do not bring bags to this area as they will be subject to search and refusal. No weapons or any kind, flammable liquids, fuels, fireworks, toxic chemicals, explosives, glass containers, alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, blankets, or any other item that security deems dangerous to participants, spectators, staff, or volunteers are allowed.
