Cross Country Skiing at Fahnestock State Park
Good weather and no conflicts aligned to allow me to put together 3 different sports this weekend.
Friday, the temperatures were around 40 in the last afternoon with clear skies. I put in a solo 10 mile tempo run, which averaged a 7:18 pace. Mile 6 was 6:58, too much for a training run with a track meet on Thursday. However, I finished strongly and suffered not.
Saturday, I took Metro North to Yonkers, where my friend Scott met me and drove us up to Fahnestock State Park, off route 301 above Cold Spring. 7 of us spent 3 hours kicking and gliding 1000' vertical gain on prepared track, also under blue skies. [BTW, you can access Fahnestock by taking the train to Cold Spring, taking a taxi and renting skis.]
Today, Sunday, Jeff, Gerald and I cycled to Nyack and back on road bikes, out via Bradley and Tweed. 3000' vertical gain, in 4.5 hours. I only averaged 15.1 mph. And yes, blue skies again.
That's just short of 9 hours of aerobics. Now to back off and recover.
